We use high quality, ecologically tanned, metal-free aniline leather for most of our crawling shoes. It is an open-pored smooth leather without a pigment layer on the top, which means that the natural skin texture of the leather remains recognizable.
Due to the lack of pigmentation, our aniline leather has a nice, soft and warm feel. Irregularities in color and structure are typical quality features for the naturalness and make every Carponi crawling shoe absolutely unique.
When it comes into contact with liquids, the open-pored leather absorbs them and “water marks” can arise. This gives your shoes a natural patina and tells the stories that your little ones experience with them.
If you want to prevent this, we recommend treating the shoes with natural leather care (e.g. leather grease or impregnation spray on a natural basis). During the first treatment, the color usually darkens gradually and becomes a bit fuller and stronger. At Carponi, we like the dull shine of the untreated aniline leather and stand by every scratch, stain and water mark – because they are memories, your memories!
You can simply rub our crawling shoes made of suede with a soft, slightly moistened cloth or a rubber brush. The leather should never be completely soaked.
Dry stains can often be removed with the help of a dirt eraser. Smaller, greasy or shiny areas can be roughened up again with a suede brush with brass bristles or a nail file.
